Almost back to normal after our weekend in Glasgow. What a busy weekend! The Robbie Williams  concert at Hampden, Scotland v Faroes at Celtic Park, the 10k and half marathon from George Square and the purpose of our visit Indian Summer 2006  at Victoria Park.

Sharron managed to secure the last room in Glasgow just off Ingram Street — great view of 10K runners. So how did it go. Well the gig was alright . We arrived late and I missed Hot Chip who I really wanted to see. Never mind, The Fall were OK, if you just accept that Mark E Smith can’t sing. The yeah yeah yeah’s were appalling – she couldn’t hold onto a yeah if she tried. Sounded like a cat dying and made the aforementioned Mr Smith  blood kin to Pavarotti.

Leisurely start to the Sunday – watch start of 10k which was kinda weird. Walking up to Queen Street later, to fetch Sunday papers, was really strange clothes everywhere – just like a bomb had gone off. Runners had thrown tracksuits, T-Shirts etc all over the place. The Brave Boys from the council did their bit. The team clearing up the traffic cones somehow felt compelled to wolf whistle and shout sexist comments to the female runners returning from the race. Well done lads I was SO proud of you – not!

So to the gig – weather had changed so we sat in car till rain stopped – it’s old age you might be at a festival but you style need to do it in comfort. Ventured out for Gang of Four who were superb. A great set. Los whatyamicallthem were dreadful. Great little pop ditties interspersed with wailing guitar solos that a 12 year old beginner wouldn’t have been proud of.

And so to the main act Anthony and The Johnston’s – superb . Rain went away the stars came out and it would have been the perfect mood. Then the weegies had to spoil it again. the crowd started leaving as this was music you were supposed to listen to not pose to. I felt like clouting the fat, bearded, obnoxious  chap who felt compelled to heckle the band throughout the set. that was when he wasn’t talking over the act about how many beers he had and how stoned he was. Twat. In the end Anthony and the Johnston’s gave us a great set – beautiful!
